Haunted!!!!!!

Here's a trait I hate about myself. I have a handful of crazy obsessions that drift in and out of my life. They come with no warning, staying for a few weeks (or God forbid a few months) and are gone as unexpectedly as they strike.

One of these obsessions is the Munsters. They've haunted me for my entire adult life.

Not something useful like financial investment, or remotely helpful to mankind: the Munsters. Today I listened to the spectacularly wicked theme song on a loop ALL DAY in an effort to make myself sick of it. It didn't work. I came home and did the crappy portrait above. And I intend to do more!

I asked a couple of friends today if this happens to them and they said it did. Not with the Munsters though. Is anyone else out there plagued by obsessions like this and if so, with what?? I'm dying to know in a bid to assure myself that I have some degree of normalcy. Who am I kidding?

What's all the hubbub.....bub?

Man! When I was a really little kid, I loved me some hubbubs!

Though it's hard to surmise due to the fact that they never gained enough popularity to spawn their own puerile cartoon show, it would appear as though the hubbubs were a group of little woodland(ish) creatures who got together and formed their own little woodland(ish) village of sorts. There, they toiled away in their makeshift shops/schools/firehouses/what-have-you, all doing their part to better their little community and stave off attack from hordes of little frogs or something. Plus, when you moved the levers in their buildings, their arms moved up and down!

I think I had three of these toys total, but I remember pouring over the ad that now serves as my new header, jealous as all hell of the blond-haired little ingrate who had the full set!

I think there was a genuine cuteness about them and I remember thinking they were pretty cool(!). But believe me, the irony that I now often find myself as an adult working on animated pap that adopts the hubbub theme isn't lost on me.

Below is a webcam capture of my sole surviving hubbub. I promise that my next post will be about a MAN'S toy like Star Wars figures or something...

I think it's an otter!
